HUAWEI Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) is partnering Apollo EV Malaysia Sdn Bhd to develop new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The partnership, materialised via a memorandum of understanding signed on Oct 24, will leverage on both parties’ experience in building the nation’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
Furthermore, the collaboration will see Apollo EV take on the role of automobile distributor and marketing promotion strategy for Apollo EV’s solar-storage-EV solutions, while Huawei Malaysia will be the technology provider of Huawei Digital Power solutions, including, but not limited to, supplying EV charging, residential solar and storage solutions.
Apollo EV CEO Chris Yen Ge said there is potential growth for EV in Malaysia due to the government’s initiative in providing 10,000 EV charging stations in the country by 2025.
“The Malaysian government’s strong initiative and efforts to provide 10,000 EV charging stations in Malaysia by 2025 as part of the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030 is a fantastic opportunity for us. We look forward to working with Huawei Malaysia to provide outstanding EV driving experiences by making charging stations more accessible to consumers, which will improve consumers’ confidence in EV adoption.
“Climate change is real, and we should stop blaming government leaders for failing to do enough. What about us? Internal combustion engine vehicles will be rendered obsolete in the not-too-distant future. If we truly care about humanity’s future, making appropriate use of renewable energy sources such as sunshine is a little step toward that common objective for all humanity,” he said in a joint statement today.
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia Digital Power business development director Jeremy Zou Xue Liang stated that the partnership would develop a partner ecosystem in enhancing the awareness of e-Mobility and represents an opportunity to cater to the country’s surge in demand for NEVs, as well as other green energy related solutions.
“As consumer demand for NEVs is expected to increase in the upcoming years, the runway is now clean and strong for automakers like Apollo EV and technology providers like Huawei to take off and this will ultimately benefit many stakeholders, including the government and the general public. Huawei is always eager to work with partners to create a comprehensive e-Mobility ecosystem, with the ultimate goal of improving end-user driving experiences,” he further added.
