PAS is standing firm with its previous decision of not dissolving the legislative assemblies in the states under its control for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (picture) said the decision was made following the central committee meeting today where there will not be any dissolution for the Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah state legislatures.

He added that the leadership also will be working with Perikatan Nasional (PN) to strengthen cooperation in the face of GE15, based on the principle of unifying the ummah.

“Through this also, PAS also finalised the discussion of the seats in the state with PN and the list of candidates from the state should be nominated for evaluation by the Council of Ulama,” Abdul Hadi said in statement.

Recently, caretaker Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has urged the various state governments to dissolve their legislative assemblies following the dissolution of Parliament.

Ismail Sabri said the state polls should be held concurrently with the parliamentary elections as it would smoothen the democratic process, save costs and prevent burdening the people with another election next year.
