CYBERJAYA Hospital will be fully operated as a public hospital under the Health Ministry (MoH) in stages starting Nov 11, to meet the demand of overcrowded healthcare services in the surrounding areas.

It will be a major specialist hospital with over 14 areas of expertise and health services, while part of the building in the Cyberjaya Hospital will be opened as the new Cyberjaya Health Clinic for outpatient treatment.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the decision to open a new health clinic in Cyberjaya is to meet the needs of health services in the Sepang district and surrounding areas.

“I am aware of the urgent need for a new health clinic in the Sepang district to reduce the overcrowding issue faced at the Dengkil Health Clinic.

“This step will also simultaneously reduce waiting for time and congestion at nearby health facilities, including Hospital Serdang, Hospital Kajang and Hospital Putrajaya,” he said in a statement today.

The Cyberjaya Health Clinic will start operating on Nov 1, 2022.

The services offered at the hospital include emergency services, ophthalmology, general medicine, otorhinolaryngology, general surgery, radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, pathology, psychiatry, paediatrics, mental health, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, anesthesiology and dentistry.

For the initial phase, the hospital will have six specialist departments which include emergency, medical, surgical, anesthesiology, paediatric as well as obstetrics and gynaecology.

On May 5, 2021, Khairy said the Cabinet had agreed in principle with the direction of Cyberjaya Hospital’s operation to be implemented through a public-private partnership model with a rental concept.

Under the agreement, the terms and conditions and detailed discussions are led by the Public-Private Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.

Built on a site with an area of 12,859 acres (5,203.85ha), the nine-storey hospital began construction on Aug 15, 2017, and was handed over to the MoH on June 15, 2021.

The hospital will be equipped with 288 beds, an emergency block and 1,006 facilities parking including 790 in the multi-storey car park.
