SCGM, University of Nottingham terminate MoU for plastic material research

FOOD packaging manufacturer SCGM Bhd and the University of Nottingham in Malaysia Sdn Bhd have mutually agreed to terminate its two years partnership.

In an exchange filing today, SCGM did not flesh out any reason for the termination of the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

In a previous filing, SCGM said the MoU was intended to jointly conduct joint research projects in plastic materials and exchange scientific and technical information and materials relating to planning of the joint research.

The area of interest includes a study on the conversion of plastic waste from landfills into building materials, the study of usage of alternative for compostable raw materials for food packaging (such as seaweed, starch, and organic food waste), the study for development of new plastics materials to spur the development of 21st-century packaging materials, as well as the promotion of SCGM employees to pursue MBA, PGT, or part-time doctoral degrees.
