Ancom Nylex appoints former IGP Mohamad Fuzi as director

FORMER police chief Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (picture) has been appointed an independent and non-ED at Ancom Nylex Bhd, a company controlled by its substantial shareholder Datuk Siew Ka Wai.

This is the fourth concurrent director of public listed companies for Mohamad Fuzi who served as the IGP from September 2017 until his retirement in May 2019.

The 68-year-old former police officer is also the independent non-executive chairman of Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Tropicana Corp Bhd and SIAB Holdings Bhd.

In a separate exchange filing yesterday, Ancom Nylex also announced the appointment of chartered accountant Christina Foo as an independent and non-ED. She is currently the senior independent director of UEM Sunrise Bhd and sits on the board of Malaysian Technology Development Corp Sdn Bhd. She was a director at KPJ Healthcare Bhd from 2018 to 2021.

The company also announced the resignations of Tan Sri Dr Lin See Yan and Edmond Cheah Swee Leng as independent and non-Eds as well as Lim Hock Chye as non-independent and non-ED.

In April, Ancom Bhd changed its name to Ancom Nylex after taking over all the assets and liabilities of Nylex (Malaysia) Bhd for RM179.3 million in October last year.

Siew, who is the company’s executive chairman, has a direct stake of 14.27% and an indirect stake of 7.54%, according to an exchange filing earlier this month. — TMR
