PM: 100% PTPTN loan for M40 (M1) group

THE National Higher Education Fund Corp (PTPTN) loan for students in the middle 40% (M40) (M1) group will be increased from 75% to 100%, Bernama reported.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government also agreed to provide loans for the purchase of laptops to PTPTN borrowers in the M40 group, which is among the government’s efforts to care for the students’ welfare.

“The government always looks after the interests of the students…many more announcements will be made that will benefit them,” he said at the opening of Semarak Patriotik IPT 2022 at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia today.

He added that the Keluarga Malaysia Cheap Sale programme will be held at every institute of higher learning (IPT) from next month to address the rising cost of living among students.

Also present at the ceremony were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Malaysian Armed Forces Chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang. — TMR /pic TMR File
