PAVILION Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) has appointed Baljeet Kaur Grewal as its new independent director effective yesterday.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the group noted that Baljeet was a senior investment banking and strategy professional with experience in investment banking, direct investment portfolio management, Islamic finance and credit research.

“She had previously worked as a management associate of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, Kuala Lumpur.

“In 2015, Baljeet served as an advisory and finance specialist (West Asian Economic Mission) for Asian Development Bank in Turkey and prior to that she was the MD Strategy and Portfolio Investments/Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund of Kazakhstan,” the group said in the filing.

Meanwhile, in July 2002, she was the head, Capital Market Research (fixed income) of Maybank Investment Bank Bhd, Malaysia (Aseambankers) before appointed as the MD and vice chairman/KFH Research Ltd, Kuwait Finance House, Kuwait in September 2006.

In June 2000, she was an associate director, corporate planning and strategy (Asia) of ABN AMRO Bank Asia.  

She also served as member of the management board and a non-independent director of KazMunayGas National Oil Co, Kazakhstan.
