RON97 petrol will be five sen lower to RM4.15 per litre compared to the previous RM4.20 from Sept 15 to Sept 21, 2022.

However, RON95 petrol will remain at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15.

The Finance Ministry (MoF) said the setting of the retail price of petroleum products on a weekly basis is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula.

“The weekly retail price is to protect consumers from the effects of real oil price increases in the global market.

“Although the actual market price for both products has increased above the ceiling price level that has been set, as can be seen in the retail price of RON97 petrol which is set according to the market price,” it said in a statement today.

MoF added that it will continue to monitor the impact of changes in world crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure that the welfare and wellbeing of the people are maintained.
