AIRASIA Super App is running a full-time employment programme for all its e-hailing drivers.

AirAsia Ride recently marked its first year of operations with 53,000 registered drivers and two million rides completed.

The full-time employment option, known as “Full-time Drivers”, is an enhancement and addition to AirAsia Ride’s current and existing Independent Drivers programme.

Qualified drivers in existing programmes, as well as new drivers, can opt for the Full-time Drivers programme effective Oct 1, 2022.

Capital A Bhd CEO Tony Fernandes said this is the right thing to do as the company’s people will always come first.

“Last month, we became the first in the region to offer gig delivery riders a full-time job.

“Today, we commemorate AirAsia Ride’s first year in operations by announcing another unprecedented move, to offer all qualified AirAsia Ride drivers full-time employment as well,” he said in a special announcement yesterday.

Full-time drivers will be given priority airport job assignments to enable them to earn more from airport pick-ups and drop-offs as travel demand continues to ramp up across the region.

This programme allows them to have a monthly base income of up to RM3,500 including fuel benefit as well as the opportunity to earn a total income of up to RM8,000 with additional driver incentive schemes.

The drivers have access to a full suite of Allstar employee benefits including Employees Provident Fund, Social Security Organisation, medical coverage that includes their spouses and children, annual leave and other travel benefits such as discounted staff rates for AirAsia flights.

Fernandes explained that in the e-hailing business, drivers are essentially the most important part of the operation and AirAsia’s priority has always been to take care of its drivers.

With this programme, any independent driver can opt to become a full-time driver with better income, and eventually grow into corporate roles at AirAsia Ride including being a fleet manager, driver coach and operations executive, among others.

“It is all about adding value to their lives and career paths. From an e-hailing driver, they can become a cabin crew, a pilot, a data analyst, a digital marketer or part of the corporate office. The sky’s the limit,” he added.

AirAsia Ride driver G Gowrish Nambiar believed that with this programme, it will motivate drivers to perform better and can raise their living standards while securing their job.

This programme is also offered to its delivery riders for AirAsia Food and AirAsia Xpress.
