Terengganu goalie apologises to supporters for FA Cup loss to JDT

TERENGGANU FC (TFC) goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim (picture) has apologised to supporters of the Turtles squad for failing to exhibit his best performance against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in Saturday’s FA Cup 2022 final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

The 21-year-old custodian admitted that it was his mistake that gifted JDT with an easy third goal thus denying TFC the opportunity to take home the coveted trophy after an 11-year wait.

According to Rahadiazli, he is still upset and disappointed especially for failing to present the trophy to TFC supporters in the final match which ended with a 1-3 defeat at the hands of JDT.

“I admit that I did not play as expected by everyone…my performance that night was below my true potential,” he said when met during training in Gong Badak yesterday evening.

“I humbly apologise for not being able to bring the trophy back to Terengganu. This has been my dream and hope.”

However, Rahadiazli, who is also in the National Under-23 team, refuses to be despondent for long and is determined to turn his mistakes into valuable lessons.

He said the encouragement from the coach, teammates as well as football fans will be the impetus for him to rise up and correct his mistakes.

“I will not concentrate on the negative comments on social media, and events that have happened will be turned around to help me to correct my mistakes,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rahadiazli, born in Setiu, Terengganu, said he is grateful to have been selected for the Harimau Malaya (national squad) training in preparation for Thailand’s King’s Cup from Sept 22 to 25 in Chiang Mai.

He said he would use the opportunity as best as possible to display his best performance for a chance to play with the national team. – Bernama
