BOUSTEAD Heavy Industries Corp Bhd’s (BHIC) unit has clinched a contract worth RM15.7 million to supply and deliver spares, maintenance and training for the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Bofors 57MM/L70 gun.
BHIC Bofors Asia Sdn Bhd (BBA) has accepted a letter of acceptance (LoA) from the Defence Ministry (Mindef) on Sept 1 for the three-year contract, the company said in an exchange filing yesterday. A formal contract will be signed at a later date, it said.
BBA is a joint venture company between BHIC Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (51%), a wholly owned subsidiary of Boustead Penang Shipyard Sdn Bhd, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BHIC, and BAE Systems Bofors Holdings Sdn Bhd (49%).
“Further, Rozi Baharudin is BHIC and BBA director, and Ahmad Fazril Mohd Fauzi is the CFO for BHIC as well as a director for BBA.
“Save for the interest of BHIC in BBA, none of the directors or substantial shareholders of the company, or persons connected with them have any interest, direct or indirect, in the LoA,” BHIC said.
