THE Health Ministry has announced that the wearing of face masks in indoor areas is now optional, effective immediately.
Announcing the matter, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the new ruling, however, is up to the premise owners to decide whether indoor masking is still mandatory.
He also noted that the wearing of face masks remains mandatory in public transportations, when having symptoms and at health facilities.
On May 1 this year, Malaysia removed the requirement for face mask at outdoor areas.
Previously, it was mandatory for the public to wear face masks on Aug 1, 2020.
