Majuperak group CEO on garden leave ahead of contract expiry

MAJUPERAK Holdings Bhd group CEO and ED Nizran Noordin (picture) was given a garden leave effective Sept 2 ahead of his contract expiration on Oct 31.

As such, the group CFO Syed Agil Syed Hashim has been appointed as the acting CEO to manage the company’s day-to-day management.

With a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Bachelor’s Degree Accounting from International Islamic University Malaysia, as well as 20 years of experience in senior management, corporate, finance, funding, business planning, and auditing in the accounting and corporate services profession, Syed Agil was part of several big corporations previously.

In 1995, he was KPMG (Kuala Lumpur) senior audit and audited various industries including manufacturing, trading, oil and gas, hotel and public listed companies.

Following that, he joined Multimedia Development Corp as finance manager for six years before joining the Malaysian Biotechnology Corp in 2006 as CIO.

In 2021, he joined Perak State Development Corp as deputy CEO prior to joining Majuperak on July 1, 2022, as the group corporate finance GM.

According to the company’s annual report, Nizran has 400,000 ordinary shares in the company’s security holdings. Previously, Nizran was Perak Mentri Besar’s private secretary, Epiweb Sdn Bhd ED, AmInvestment Bank Bhd corporate finance assistant manager, as well as Park May Bhd internal audit executive.
