DRB-HICOM Bhd’s subsidiary, Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas), has launched a new extended warranty (EW) programme for its selected models, up to an additional two years or 65,000km.

It applies to six models — Kriss 110, Karisma 125S, Elegan 250, Pulsar RS200, Pulsar NS200 and Dominar D400 — that have been sold and registered from Sept 1 this year onwards.

Modenas’ insurance partners Allianz General Insurance Co (M) Bhd serves as EW’s programme provider whereas Allianz Partners Malaysia will provide towing services to customers.

This programme is an optional third-party functional warranty which covers sudden and unexpected motorcycle failure of a selected factory-fitted mechanical and electrical components.

According to Allianz General Insurance CEO Sean Wang (right), he is delighted in partnering Modenas to offer EW programme.

“As insurers, our focus is firmly on being there for customers and providing them with a positive experience during their time of need, and even more so now when Malaysian households are financially vulnerable due to rising costs.

“Moreover, the programme also serves as an endorsement of Allianz General Insurance’s track record as a trusted insurer that delivers the best to its customers,” he said in a statement.

On the other hand, Allianz Partners CEO Elias Wahidi (third from right) believed that this partnership will lift the burden on Modenas’ customers when making purchase decisions as they feel confident that they are being protected under a warranty.

Modenas’ EW Programme also offers 24 hours, 365 days of Roadside Breakdown Assistance which extends its towing services to the nearest Modenas authorised service centre within a 100km radius.

It includes a fully-transferable resale of the bike as well as offering a better resale value and more than 30,000 parts that come with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Modenas CEO Roslan Roskan (centre) explained that this warranty is catered to its customers’ motorcycle needs.

“The EW programme protects both your motorcycle and wallet from costly repairs due to mechanical and electrical breakdown.

“In addition, your motorcycles are assured of the usage of genuine Modenas’ parts,” he said.

The EW programme was in response to the increasing demand for frequent maintenance and motorcycle repairs that can cost one-fifth of the original price.

At the same time, the motorcycle industry’s growth is supported by the transferability of extended warranties offered by manufacturers, which ensures that the product is covered even after it is passed to new owners.
