Bursa Malaysia remains in negative territory at mid-afternoon

BURSA Malaysia remained in negative territory at mid-afternoon on profit-taking in selected heavyweights led by IHH Healthcare Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) stocks.

IHH Healthcare and PetChem weighed down a combined 3.12 points of the composite index.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 3.5 points to 1,498.07 from Monday’s close of 1,501.57.

The benchmark index opened 0.79 of-a-point easier at 1,500.78.

On broader market, losers led gainers 441 to 341, while 375 counters were unchanged, 1,175 untraded and 53 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.84 billion units worth RM1.01 billion.

Among heavyweights, Malayan Banking Bhd added one sen to RM8.95, Public Bank Bhd gained two sen to RM4.65, PetChem fell eight sen to RM8.82 and IHH Healthcare lost 14 sen to RM6.20 while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd was flat at RM5.40.

Of the actives, Metronic Global Bhd eased half-a-sen to seven sen, Top Glove Corp Bhd shed three sen to 77 sen, My EG Services Bhd rose seven sen to 78.5 sen, Dagang NeXchange Bhd added one sen to 86 sen while Vortex Consolidated Bhd was flat at 18 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index shed 10.67 points to 10,614.83, the FBM T100 Index lost 9.82 points to 10,367.05, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gave up 20.35 points to 10,712.99, while the FBM 70 advanced 46.04 points to 12,669.7 and the FBM ACE improved 17.73 points to 4,899.53.

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index was 38.66 points higher at 7,145.03, the Energy Index added 6.47 points to 729.57, the Financial Services Index slid 4.13 points to 16,718.26, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.77 of-a-point to 182.15. — Bernama / pic Bloomberg
