PERMODALAN Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) and Mentri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI Selangor) has reiterated their commitment to fast-tracking the affordable home agenda in the state, after holding the ground-breaking ceremony for Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong affordable homes today.

The Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong project is developed by Gagasan Nadi Cergas Bhd in partnership with PNSB’s subsidiary, PNSB Construction Sdn Bhd, as the strategic partner.

The project, which is targeted to be delivered by 2025, consists of a total of 1,260 units of semi-furnished apartments with a built-up space of 1,000 sq ft at RM250,000 each.

Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government is constantly working towards enhancing the safety and wellbeing of the people, and fostering greater community development activities.

Amirudin, who officiated the ground-breaking ceremony, said it was another milestone for the state government’s goal of expanding home ownership among the bottom 40% income (B40) and middle 40% income (M40) segments.

“We are very pleased to advance to the official ground-breaking so quickly after I had soft-launched this project virtually in early April 2022.

“Thereafter, registrants obtained the offer letter from Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor.

“This reflects our urgency in carrying out our commitment to the people, and endorses the suitability of collaborative partners such as Gagasan Nadi Cergas to deliver quality homes at affordable price,” he said in a statement today.

According to Amirudin, the strategic location of Bukit Jelutong, the affordability of the units and semi-furnishing in each unit has been a big draw to property buyers.

He noted that the state government is confident that this development will enhance the quality of life of Selangor residents, and be suited to the lives of working-class individuals and young families.

“Strategically located in the township of Bukit Jelutong, the development is part of the state government’s initiative to address housing affordability issues in the state, with a target of building 45,760 Rumah Idaman by 2026.

“Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong is close to community amenities including schools, shopping malls, medical centres, golf academy and community parks,” he said.

PNSB CEO Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim commented that PNSB is mindful of the challenges by B40 and M40 segment in owning their own home, especially a comfortable residence with public amenities and surrounding nearby facilities.

He highlighted that Rumah Idaman offers an affordable home that is suitable for those who have not yet owned a home.

“PNSB is committed to make the Rumah Idaman project a reality in strategic and potential locations in Selangor, including in Gombak, Sepang, Kuala Langat, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts.

“The target markets in Selangor will enjoy Rumah Idaman in 24 Idaman projects which will be implemented by PNSB, and 45,760 units will be developed together with strategic partners,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Gagasan Nadi Cergas group MD Wan Azman Wan Kamal said the group has already received three times more registrations than the units offered since the registration of interest started earlier this year.

He added that the demand for affordable housing is resilient, especially in strategic locations like Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.

“This encourages us to capture this momentum, and are steadfast in developing our subsequent affordable housing in hand, totalling 10,000 units over the next five years,” he said.
