TM, Tourism Malaysia ink MoC to boost domestic travel through digitalisation

TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM) and Tourism Malaysia signed a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) today to boost domestic travel via a digital marketing platform.

The collaboration aimed to promote all campaigns including domestic travel packages crafted by Tourism Malaysia to the mass through digital marketing and solutions provided by TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd and Credence, from July 1, 2022, to Jan 31, 2023.

“It expects 2.7 million users with impressions of seven million users in the first month, with the potential reach up to 18.9 million users with 49 million impressions, throughout the seven-month campaign,” said Tourism Malaysia DG Datuk Zainuddin Abdul Wahab (left) in a press conference after the ceremony.

The main focus of the collaboration involves digital advertising through all screens at 32 TM Point centres nationwide, including via Unifi WiFi ads, Yellow Pages banner, Unifi TV and Google keywords ads.

Tourism Malaysia was represented by Zainuddin while TM Info-Media CEO Sean Koh (right) signed on behalf of TM. 

According to Tourism Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng (centre), the strategic partnership between Tourism Malaysia dan TM widens the opportunity to explore the new market and strengthens the brand via a digital ecosystem, in line with the National Tourism Policy 2020-2030 and Tourism Malaysia’s Marketing and Strategic Plans 2022-2026.

Meanwhile, TM One executive VP Shazurawati Abd Karim (second from right) said TM is committed to providing the best infrastructure to Tourism Malaysia in promoting domestic travel and she noted that tourism is the third-biggest contributor to Malaysia’s GDP.

Credence is a new company that offers digital services and cloud services to businesses in materialising digital transformation.

Its main function in this collaboration is to provide big data analytics of social media to Tourism Malaysia to find the best platform and travel packages to promote domestic travel.
