UDA Holdings Bhd has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with BBCC Development Sdn Bhd to acquire a hotel building in Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) in Kuala Lumpur (KL) for RM295 million.
In a statement today, UDA said the agreement is part of the group’s proactive measure to strengthen its assets strategically.
“The hotel, which is part of the BBCC Development masterplan, is expected to be completed and handed to UDA in the third quarter of 2024 (3Q24),” it said.
UDA chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said the acquisition is expected to boost the group’s hospitality business through its subsidiary AnCasa Hotels and Resorts.
“The investment is also able to boost positive profits and further encourage the country’s tourism industry due to its strategic location in the middle of KL and easy access to comprehensive transportation, including mass rapid transit, light rail transit and KL Monorail at BBCC,” she said.
The hotel will be able to complete the development component at the BBCC which is also equipped with a concert hall of Zepp KL, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc, Malaysia Grand Bazaar, a movie theatre and a banquet hall located in the entertainment hub beneath the hotel.
Moreover, the development phase at the BBCC is also complete with the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport’s residential, office and shopping complex.
“The hotel will provide 450 accommodation units and offer a choice of one-, two- and three-room that can meet the needs of various segments of visitors both for business and leisure,” she noted.
On top of the historical elements of KL in the entire concept of the hotel, the theme of Malaysia’s uniqueness is also highlighted to provide a new experience for hotel guests.
“This effort is in line with UDA’s core principle of the hospitality business of ‘Enjoy Life’, which UDA is committed to providing the best possible experience throughout a stay at any UDA hotel chain,” she added.
