THE federal government has allocated RM4.7 billion for the Selangor flood mitigation plan to solve the flood issues in the state.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the allocation will be used to implement five flood mitigation projects in Selangor.

“This effort will be hastened to prevent severe flooding that affects the wellbeing of the population, state and national economies from recurring,” he said in his keynote speech during the Malaysian Family Aspirations Tour in Selangor on Friday.

On top of that, the government has approved RM6.3 billion for the implementation of infrastructure development and service delivery facilities in Selangor, under the Second Rolling Plan 2022 of the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“The government also took proactive steps to plan a new approach including the construction of appropriate and more sustainable as well as comprehensive infrastructures in Selangor,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government’s effort to provide housing for Malaysian families, particularly the bottom 40% and middle 40% income groups, remains a top priority.

According to Ismail Sabri, 14,329 houses in Selangor were completed as of June 2022 under various housing programmes such as the People’s Housing Programme and the Malaysian Civil Servants Housing Project.
