DRAMA occurred again at the Federal Court today as former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak discharged his solicitor Datuk Zaid Ibrahim Sufian TH Liew & Partner (ZIST) in his final appeal against the SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction.
The Federal Court was told by lead counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik that ZIST is no longer with Najib in the SRC International appeal.
“The solicitors have been discharged by the appellant,” he said.
Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat acknowledged the latest development and resumed the hearing with lead prosecutor Datuk V Sithambaram’s submissions.
On July 25, Najib dropped his counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and the rest of his defence team from representing him.
He then appointed Hisyam as his counsel from the firm of the same name, and Liew Teck Huat and Rueben Mathiavaranam, the two partners in Ibrahim Suflan TH Liew & Partners, as his solicitors.
