MoH recruits 4,053 for permanent positions

THE Public Service Commission has successfully recruited 4,053 medical officers under the Ministry of Health (MoH) for this year.
The permanent positions consist of 3,215 medical officers, dental officers (438) and pharmacy officers (400).
Announcement of the permanent recruitment decision for dental officers and pharmacy officers was made on Aug 15, while announcement for medical officers was made on Aug 16. The offer letter for the permanent appointment can be downloaded from the SPA Appointment Offer System portal from Aug 29, 2022.
“In line with this permanent appointment offer, the MoH will open an e-placement system (e-Housemen, e-Dentist and e-Pharmacist) from mid-September 2022 to allow officers to make their own selection of placements online.
“Notification on when the system will open will be sent to officials one week in advance via email. The effective date for officers to report for duty is set at Oct 17, 2022,” said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, in a statement today.
The recruitment criteria include performance during graduate training/compulsory service, annual performance evaluation report and evaluation during an interview.
“For officers who are not appointed on a permanent basis, their contractual service will continue according to the contract in force. Those who are currently serving under compulsory service will be offered re-appointment on a contractual basis for another two years after the compulsory service contract expires for continuity of service.
“In addition, they also have the opportunity to be re-appointed on a contractual basis for another four years to follow specialist studies. Officers who are not appointed permanently this time still have the opportunity to reapply for permanent recruitment next year,” he further added.
Previously in February, the MoH announced the Cabinet’s decision on creating 4,186 additional permanent positions in 2022 which consists of 3,586 medical officer positions, 460 dental officer positions and 400 pharmacy officer positions.
Following the decision, a regular recruitment advertisement has been issued from March 1 to March 15, 2022, to fill the positions of the medical officer, dental officer and pharmacy officer; meanwhile, interviews have been held from June 8-30 this year for candidates who meet the appointment requirements according to the service scheme and service conditions set.
In line with the government’s decision regarding MoH’s human resource needs, the hiring of this permanent position is the largest permanent appointment since the contractual appointment of these positions was introduced in 2016. In addition, it is also the first additional permanent position implemented since 2015.
