THE Malaysian Productivity Corp (MPC) is planning to increase the country’s education achievement to a higher level by 2026.
They intend to achieve the figure of 50% having higher education by 2026 with the cooperation of various government ministries and agencies such as the Education Ministry and the Higher Education Ministry.
The corporation stressed that the main focus should be on efforts to increase the level of educational achievement to boost productivity growth and the country’s competitiveness.
“As such, we will also be implementing the Academy in Factory initiative via the Triple Helix approach through the participation from the public and private sector, and the higher education institutions.
“Hence, we will be working with different ministries and agencies, namely the International Trade and Industry Ministry, the Economic Planning Unit, the Human Resources Ministry, Rural Development Ministry, the Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Department of Statistics Malaysia towards increasing the country’s productivity and competitiveness, as well as the wellbeing of the people,” MPC said in a statement today.
Separately, the corporation clarified that 5.8% that refers to the percentage of Malaysian who do not go to school which was reported recently by a Malay daily is untrue.
“The figure actually refers to the average percentage of educational achievement of a country for those aged 25 and above, instead of the percentage for 32 million Malaysian population.
“To date, 72.1% of Malaysians’ highest educational achievement is the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia graduate level. MPC regrets the confusion and inconvenience caused to all relevant parties,” it said in the statement.
