FOODPANDA officially turned 10. The online food delivery company celebrated its new milestone in reshaping the traditional food business and upskilling its delivery partners through the online platform.
Foodpanda Malaysia MD Sayantan Das (picture) said it is proud to be a platform by Malaysian for Malaysians with an inclusive rider’s community.
Its senior commercial director Jay Ar Juan said the platform has a wide reach not just in town and cities area but even to those are far located area with small populations.
“Previously, the usage was still low, but now that customers who have never purchased meals through delivery online have started using the app, linking their card for the payment and even subscribed to Panda Pro, this indicates people are more comfortable with food delivery service.“We’ve come to realise that as more people start accepting the developing technologies, this trend will become more routine and ingrained in society,” Juan told The Malaysian Reserve.
Over the past 10 years, Foodpanda — which was started as a food delivery platform — has expanded into more segments such as grocery delivery, retail needs and recently its one-stop shop pandamart.“This is our unique vertical that sets us apart from other online marketplaces,” he added.
As a rider-based platform, its ultimate goal is to maximise the benefits for its three primary key stakeholders — riders, restaurant partners, and customers — while bringing convenience to the users.
“Moving forward, our focus is to support more homegrown business, home chefs to our platform, rather than merely digitalising established business.
“Some of these groups, if not all of them, have already developed an online presence via their own social media platform, Facebook, Instagram etc. Consequently, it won’t be difficult to persuade them to engage,” Juan said.
He said Foodpanda also works closely with the government to encourage more vendors to join it and digitise these entrepreneurs.
In conjunction with the occasion, Foodpanda Malaysia will be hosting panda paradise, a three-day carnival starting tomorrow (Aug 12) at Open Air Carpark Sunway City for Malaysians to experience Foodpanda beyond the app.It will be filled with exciting activities for the public such as online games, the exciting lineup of local performances and delights from its food vendors and participating vendors.
