AEON Big (M) Sdn Bhd and FGV Holdings Bhd are partnering to market native chicken products through the latter’s collaboration with Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas).

Through the collaboration, a total of 1,000 native chickens will be supplied weekly before expanding to 10,000 by year-end.

These native chickens are reared by participants of the Projek Pembangunan Peneroka under the Federal Land Development Authority and the Program Pembasmian Kemiskinan Tegar Keluarga Malaysia under contract farming management.

This understanding was sealed during the launch of FGV ALMA-Bernas native chicken food and Ladang’57 native chicken marketing at Aeon Big which took place at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-tourism Exhibition 2022 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang, Selangor, recently.

Through the FGV-Bernas collaboration, Bernas will produce a new formulation of native chicken feed from by-products sourced from rice and rice processing plants.

FGV, on the other hand, will market Ladang’57 chickens at Aeon Big supermarkets nationwide, after it buys back from farmers.

Aeon Big MD Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed said the collaboration opens new opportunities for local farmers as well as boosts the country’s economy.

“This programme also provides an opportunity for Aeon Big to provide a stock of fresh native chicken as an alternative to regular chicken supply. The products that will be under the Ladang’57 brand are also of high quality.

“This collaboration is very much in line with Aeon Big’s goal to continue helping local farmers market their products. Through this network, we can ensure that basic necessities such as chicken can continue to be supplied to consumers,” he said in a statement today.

The launch was officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and witnessed by FGV CEO Datuk Mohd Nazrul Izam Mansur, FGV Head of Integrated Agriculture Abdul Razak Aya and Bernas Group MD Datuk Haris Fadzilah Hassan.

Previously, Aeon Big has collaborated with various parties to ease the burden on consumers including through the Keluarga Malaysia Sales as well as the Pocket Savings Programme which highlights the sale of 15 selected daily necessities at a price of RM60 for 100 days.
