THE Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition has been launched in Malaysia with an on-the-road price of RM139,700 for Peninsular Malaysia without insurance.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors Corp vehicles in Malaysia, said only 1,000 units will be up for sale and available exclusively in Jet Black Mica.

It said the Phantom Plus Edition is designed to elevate customers’ urban lifestyle and passion for the remote outdoors. The limited edition 4×4 pick-up truck comes with body kits and accessories to match its rugged presence, accentuated by a decorative roof with LED lighting as well as a front and rear bumper garnish with red accent.

For a more aggressive yet stylish look, the truck adds on side-door moulding, tailgate assist, Phantom tailgate moulding with rear spoiler, sports bar with matte finishing and a rugged wheel arch with 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tyres. It also sports the “Phantom Plus” body decals.

For the interior, the new Phantom Plus Edition comes with sporty leatherette seats and red accent carpet mat. It is also equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen audio with Apple Carplay and Android Ready, as well as a Driving Video Recorder, as standard at all MMM showrooms nationwide.

The special edition Triton is fitted with Easy Select 4WD with off-road mode for optimum handling characteristics in any given terrain. It also comes with Hill Descent Control, where the vehicle speed is electronically controlled while it is in a descent mode. It has a turning radius of 5.9m, making parking or turning in the tightest spaces effortless.

The Mitsubishi Triton is gaining popularity as Malaysia’s favourite pick-up truck. For financial year 2021, MMM sold 9,420 units — a 24% increase compared to the previous year.
