AirAsia returns to the ‘runway’ with KLFW collaboration

AIRASIA returns to the “runway” this year in celebration of the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week’s (KLFW) 10th-year anniversary with the first ever collaboration between KLFW and AirAsia Academy.

The edutech arm under Capital A Bhd (formerly AirAsia Group) has partnered KLFW to provide exclusive insights into the world of fashion and the talents behind them. Its mission: To combine the elements of fashion, technology and education.

AirAsia Academy’s On-Demand Learning (ODL) platform, launched last month, will feature a designated KLFW channel as the official content aggregator for all things fashion.

According to Capital A president (ventures) and AirAsia Academy CEO Aireen Omar, the ODL platform can be a one stop edutech centre for fashion designers to showcase their talent and uniqueness, as well as enhance their knowledge and skills to elevate the Malaysian fashion scene.

“In order to help maintain the viability of the Malaysian fashion industry, we believe that there is a need for a brand extension platform for the designers to showcase their offerings and this can be done through insightful content sharing with the audience.”

AirAsia Academy has opened up its ODL platform for emerging young designers and more established, renowned designers to reach out to a wider audience who are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in the industry.

Budding fashion students and lecturers can fully utilise the platform to share their ideas and content, while fashion business consultants can make use of the virtual venue for networking and knowledge sharing with stakeholders.

The exclusive KLFW x AirAsia Academy ODL content offerings include behind the scenes at KLFW, fashion fundamentals (Fashion 101), designers tips and tricks, fashion technology trends and more.

“We can also cater to fashion designers and talents who are keen to reskill or upskill with instructor-led training (ILT) courses, which can be tailored specifically to meet the requirements of today’s digital-centric industry,” Aireen added.

The specialised and accredited ILT courses include Google Data Studio, where professional trainers can facilitate and guide fashion designers/business owners with planning and converting data into sales reports, and Digital Marketing, where fashion business owners can learn the importance of Digital Marketing to build online presence and brand loyalty.
