THE Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) has lined up a variety of activities for its “Magic of the Night” (MOTN) 2022 programme from Aug 5 to Aug 7, 2022 at Dataran Sungai Melaka.

In collaboration with the Melaka state government, the activities include a career fair in tourism; the South City Festival; opening of the Melaka City Heritage Gallery; launch of the National Living Heritage Book; and the Magical Melaka Food and Fruit Fest, among others.

Melaka was chosen for “MOTN 2022” due to its reputation as a tourist destination rich in culture and customs.

The programme is part of the effort to spur economic activities in the state as it will involve domestic and foreign tourists, as well as the tourism industry players.

The Tourism Career Fair is part of Motac’s initiatives for the sector which is experiencing a shortage of workers due to the pandemic.

Additionally, the programme offers a Kota Selatan Art Festival which highlights the uniqueness of Melaka, as well as Johor and Negri Sembilan.

It will feature cultural performances such as theatrical martial arts, traditional dances, competitions and showcases.

Through Magical Melaka Food and Fruit Fest, foodies can explore a range of delicacies, learn through cooking demonstrations, and an exhibition of the country’s largest replica of the durian, which will be entered into the “Malaysia Guinness Book of Records”.

The main highlight of the event is a gala night themed “Maddana di Bumi Bertuah” which will happen on Aug 6, 2022 at 8.30pm.

This performance and the launch will take place on a floating stage at Dataran Sungai Melaka constructed by Motac.

The programme will be open to the public from 10am to 10.30pm.
