THE number of new Covid-19 cases dropped by 5.2% to 28,339 on July 30, 2022, from 29,886 the week before.
Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (picture) said there was an increase of 3.6% to 47,176 for the average number of active cases per day on July 30, 2022, while the number of recovered cases increased by 35.4% to 30,823.
“A total of 4,677,270 Covid-19 cases and 4,594,311 recovered cases had been recorded in the country since January 2020 while the cumulative figure for fatalities was 35,960,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham also said the number of local cases decreased by 5.3% to 28,238 while the number of imported cases increased by 89.3% to 53.
“The number admitted to public hospitals and quarantine centres remained unchanged.
“However, hospital admissions rose by 2.8% per population of 100,000 compared to the preceding week as the Category 1 and 2 patients increased by 5.6% while there was no change for the category 3, 4, and 5 patients.
“Overall bed occupancy for non-critical and intensive care unit beds remained unchanged at 23% and 14% respectively,” he added.
The percentage of Covid-19 patients requiring ventilators decreased by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said 107 samples of Influenza-Like Illness were detected positive for Covid-19 with a rate of 14.5% while no Severe Acute Respiratory Infection samples were detected positive for Covid-19 with a positive rate of 0% until July 30, 2022.
