THE government has identified 339 sites for the deployment of 5G networks, said Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.
He said a total of 227 sites have been identified in Kuching while another 112 sites in Miri.
“Until July 11, a total of 17 sites have been developed in Kuching,” Zahidi told Dewan Rakyat in response to a query by Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni today.
Lukanisman had asked whether the government is providing a special 5G spectrum to the Sarawak state government for the 5G implementation.
Zahidi said that in accordance with the government’s decision with the 5G implementation by Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) as a Single Wholesale Network operator, the identified spectrum will be 700MHz, 3.5GHz and 28GHz nationwide.
“The 5G network implementation in Sarawak has started in the second quarter of 2022.
DNB is working together with the Sarawak state government and related agencies to ensure smooth development of the 5G network,” Zahidi said further. — TMR / pic by TMR File
