MALAYSIAN green technology start-up company, Eclimo Sdn Bhd, has launched an enhanced e-motorbike food truck.

The company said in a statement on Thursday that the electric motorbike has been scaled up to include a customised carrier bag which can power a grill or stove placed inside the bag.

This e-vehicle also doubles up as a power source for a generator if the owner opts to set up a roadside stall at a pasar malam or even serve as a food vendor at events.

Eclimo ED Datuk Dennis Chuah said it saw it as an opportunity to modify e-vehicles and provide an opportunity for the bottom 40% income group to start small businesses through mobility micro-entrepreneurship business model.

“This innovation will be an additional incentive for Malaysians to embrace green technology and use it beneficially to improve their economy.

“Currently, we have 25 units of custom motorcycles that we rent for between RM20 and RM30 a day. We expect this number to increase to 100 units by the end of this year. Carrier bags can be customised according to the individual needs of food vendors,” Chuah added further.

He said Eclimo plans to expand its custom e-motorcycle fleet to include food vendors in the South-East Asian region next year.

Among the company’s growing customer base includes brands such as Dome Cafe, GrabFood, Huckleberry Food & Fare, DHL and Pos Malaysia Bhd.

Eclimo is also a partner of Gentari Sdn Bhd, an independent entity owned by Petroliam Nasional Bhd, that is part of the Vehicles-as-a-Service net fleet solution and Gentari has been introduced to accelerate the commercial use of clean energy.
