Digi invites Malaysians to share street art photos

STREET art in Malaysia, mostly featuring colourful paintings on historical and neglected buildings, have been gaining popularity nationwide.

Kuala Lumpur, for example, boasts many of these works of art which transform dull parts of the capital city into Instagram-worthy spots.

Other cities and towns have also jumped on the bandwagon, from Kangar to Penang to Johor Baru, as well as Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

To encourage more Malaysians to discover and embrace the creativity and diversity of our local street art, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd has introduced the #DigiSnapshot campaign.

#DigiSnapShot aspires to connect everyday Malaysians to local street art and artists across the nation.

Digi CMO Praveen Rajan believes that every street art is a form of social expression and has a story to tell.

He said these talented artists should be given the opportunity and platform to do so.

“As we continue to grow and share this passion project of ours, we hope that we can play a bigger role in supporting the Malaysian art scene, giving it the attention it deserves while showcasing the many unique street art that can be found around our country as a way to celebrate our diverse culture.”

The campaign began as a way to celebrate the nation’s blooming mural art scene by initiating an online platform for Malaysians to share street art found around the country.

It has since blossomed into a passion project for Digi and #DigiSnapshot aims to inspire more photographers and street art lovers to share their street art photos with other art enthusiasts on Instagram.

All Malaysians are invited to be part of this campaign. Selected photos that are reposted on @digitelco will be rewarded on a monthly basis.

You can take part in #DigiSnapShot by:

1. Follow @digitelco on Instagram and snap a photo of any street art or mural around Malaysia.

2. Post the photo on your Instagram feed, making sure your profile is set to public.

3. Tag @digitelco and include the hashtag #DigiSnapShot in the caption.
