PAKATAN Harapan (PH) will experience a deficit of trust from the people in the 15th General Election (GE15) due to the party’s failure to manage unity since forming the government for 22 months.

Ilham Centre ED Hisommudin Bakar (picture) said it was one of the three main factors that caused the mood of the voters to change, showing that they were not the best choice to become the government.

He noted that according to the study by Ilham Centre, PH will experience a deficit of support among voters in GE15, as they are not confident that the party will form a stable government.

“This is because the three parties are not in line to move in an integrated manner in all aspects, including the election machinery, campaigns and so on. When it comes to elections, they move individually, unlike before. See what happened to the Melaka and Johor state elections.

“Secondly, PH does not have a different narrative compared to GE14. This is in terms of its campaign against corruption and kleptocracy, but that was an old model to defeat Barisan Nasional (BN).

“In fact, the real issue of PH is the disagreement among the members which caused them to lose the government, while they were able to form the government in the beginning. They only lasted for 22 months due to internal differences between them and eventually split,” he reportedly told Utusan Malaysia when contacted yesterday.

Commenting further, Hisommudin said the weakness of PH has caused frustration among voters where BN was once again seen as the possible government due to the mood of voters who are disappointed with PH.

He added that if we look at the percentage of Melaka and Johor state elections, Chinese voters did not go out to vote, causing PH to lose votes there.

“While the segment of Malay voters who previously voted for PH, is seen shifting to Perikatan Nasional. This is what will happen if GE15 is held in the near future,” he noted.

Hisommudin stressed that PH will return to the Opposition as it is today if there is no major issue that can be a “tsunami” to defeat BN.
