THE Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry (Motac) will continue to monitor the latest development in Covid-19 cases and will adhere to the instructions issued by the Health Ministry.
Motac Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (picture) said this when asked about her ministry’s readiness in receiving tourists in light of the new Covid-19 wave.
She spoke to reporters after launching the Tourism Recovery Plan 2022 through its agency, Tourism Malaysia last Friday.
Under the plan is the Special Interest Programme, which will benefit Malaysians through incentives in the form of discounts, vouchers and rebates included in various interesting tourism packages in the country.
Nancy said the programme was made possible with the cooperation of the Malaysian Association of Themepark and Family Attractions (Matfa), the Malaysian Scuba Diving Association (MSDA) and the Malaysian Kampungstay and Homestay Association.
She said the recovery plan is expected to help industry players to remain competitive while reviving the domestic tourism industry.
This initiative will benefit about 54,000 consumers through the offering of attractive travel packages and vouchers worth RM6.7 million encompassing tourism segments such as theme parks and scuba diving under the Jom Dive 2.0 campaign, as well as homestays under the Jom Cuti di Homestay campaign will be sold.
“We want Malaysians to travel domestically and spend money in the country to help the economy to recover,” she added.
Malaysians can get a discount of up to 40% and e-vouchers worth RM10 for every theme park or family attraction entry ticket purchased from June 24 to Oct 2.
“Every consumer can have a maximum of three redemptions at three different theme parks or family attractions and purchases need to be made at the website, www.tickets.matfa.org.my,” Nancy said.
The “Jom Dive 2.0” campaign offers RM400 discounts for every purchase of a scuba diving package worth RM1,000 and above in one transaction, limited to the first 1,994 buyers.
Meanwhile, under the “Jom Cuti di Homestay” campaign, consumers can enjoy rebates of RM50 to RM300 for every package purchase worth RM100 and above with a maximum redemption of up to three rebates.
A total of 150 packages are offered at the jomhomestay.my website with the involvement of 67 clusters of homestay operators nationwide, with a validity period until Dec 31, 2022.
