AMINVESTMENT Bank Bhd’s AmAsean Equity Fund has won the Best Equity Asean Over Five Years for providing strong risk-adjusted returns.

The fund said it achieved a total return of around 24% over five years.

Principal Officer and CIO of AmIslamic Funds Management Sdn Bhd Kevin Wong stated the fund has played an important role in adding value to its performance.

AmAsean Equity, which was launched in the year 2011, seeks to provide capital growth over the medium- to long-term by investing mainly in Shariah-compliant equities in the Asean region.

The actively managed fund will select Shariah-compliant equities that are undervalued relative to their earnings growth potentials at reasonable valuations.

Looking at the outlook for the Asean market moving forward, Wong said they see emerging value in sectors such as construction, real estate and recovery-led themes.

“Asean Equities are expected to benefit from the economic reopening growth momentum and the impact of buoyant commodity prices.

“While geopolitical encounters, inflation and rate hikes create more volatility, they also provide opportunities for tactical trading and to take equity at cheaper valuations,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lipper, Refinitiv head of research Robert Jenkins stated the Global Islamic 2022 Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards recognise award-winning managers who are successfully facing down market factors not seen in decades.
