THE Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) is urging consumers to contact the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) directly for issues with any airline’s services.
In a statement today, KPDNHEP said it has received numerous complaints from consumers particularly regarding prices, services, schedule changes and flight cancellations.
It said Section 99(1)(c) of the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act 2015 (Act A1498) which was amended with section 99(1)(ca) states that any dispute related to any airline services are not within the Consumer Claims Tribunal’s power effective March 1, 2016.
“All complaints in respect thereof shall be referred to Mavcom,” the ministry noted.
KPDNHEP also reminded consumers to save or record all transactions when contacting the airline and make a complaint directly to Mavcom along with the stored evidence.
Complaints can be made through https://flysmart.my/en/make-a-complaint/ or email enquiries@flysmart.my.
Nevertheless, KPDNHEP has assured that all complaints received by the ministry have so far been forwarded to Mavcom for further action.
