PERTAMA Digital Bhd announced the appointment of Tun Datuk Seri Zaki Azmi (picture) as its chairman effective today.
Zaki, who served as the independent non-ED of Pertama Digital since April 21, 2020, succeeds Datuk Dr Kenny Ng in a leadership nomination aimed at steering the company further as it launches new businesses in line with its projected growth in this sector.
“I am proud to be given the responsibility and confidence of the board to lead the company and look forward to taking a hands-on approach with the management as we create solutions for the benefit of the rakyat.
“We will be thoughtful and innovative as we chart new grounds for the financial benefit of our shareholders and the digital advancement of Malaysia and the rakyat,” the former chief judge said in a statement today.
Zaki, formerly the 12th chief justice of Malaya was responsible for the successful restructuring of the Malaysian judiciary and contributes to corporate Malaysia through his chairmanship on Astro (M) Holdings Bhd as well as previously having served on the boards of Petroliam Nasional Bhd and several other listed companies including Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and SP Setia Bhd. He is also the chancellor of both Multimedia University and Mahsa University as well as the pro-chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
Commenting on his tenure at the company, Ng said, “I thank the board of Pertama Digital for the opportunity to lead the company thus far.
“As a responsible and transparent, governance-based board, changes such as this are necessary to inject new directions for the success of the company. I know that Zaki has the necessary drive and calibre to lead the company to even greater heights.”
Meanwhile, Pertama Digital director of strategy Saify Akhtar said, “I have had the honour of being under the mentorship and guidance of both Zaki and Ng and I look forward to delivering more impactful products to the rakyat under the new charge of Zaki.”
