Defence Ministry extends housing blueprint for ATM personnel, veterans

THE Defence Ministry today pre-launched its Housing Blueprint 3.0, a comprehensive housing agenda for the Malaysian Armed Forces’ (ATM) personnel and veterans.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the blueprint was built based on three main objectives, namely construction, maintenance and ownership.

“It is a continuation of the Housing Blueprint 1.0 that I personally proposed and introduced in 2017 as well as the Housing Blueprint 2.0 in 2019,” he said at the event.

Four main programmes implemented under the latest blueprint are Malaysian Armed Forces Family Home Development (RKMAT); maintenance and upgrading of the existing RKMAT; more affordable homeownership programmes under the One Officer One Home (SASaR) programme and an ATM Veterans Housing Initiative Programme.

“Various projects especially RKMAT have been completed in the last nine months including 2,000 units in Taman LTAT Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur; 204 units in Pakit Sarawak Camp; 20 units in Oran Camp Perlis and 305 units in Camp Segamat, Johor,” he added.

Simultaneously, a total of 434 units have been upgraded from two units to one unit (from 434 to 217 units) — including Penrissen Camp, Sarawak; Rascom Camp, Sibu; Kuantan Air Base; Camp Batu 10 Kuantan, MSS Ipoh; Butterworth Air Force Base and Labuan Air Base.

The SASaR housing programme was developed by Syarikat Pembinaan Serta Hebat Sdn Bhd and provides a total of 3,500 housing units involving five apartment blocks consisting — Type A (1,800 units with an area of 1,000 sq ft priced at RM150,000), Type B (1,200 units at 1,100 sq ft for RM199,000) and Type C (500 units at 1,200 sq ft for RM 250,000).

“I was informed that there were 10,000 applicants on the waiting list. Also, there will be 14 shop units in the SASaR Complex, all of which will only be utilised by ATM’s veteran entrepreneurs,” he said.

At the event, Hishammuddin also witnessed the SASaR Housing Sale and Purchase Signing Ceremony to three recipients from all three branches of the service.

Also present were the Defence Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Secretary General Datuk Seri Muez Abd Aziz, Commander of the Armed Forces General Tan Sri Affendi Buang TUDM and top leadership of the ministry and ATM.
