MALAYSIA has not seen any major spikes in Covid-19 cases after the Aidilfitri celebration, to which Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar credited Malaysians for their diligence.
He congratulated the people for adopting good behaviour and safety measures during the transition to the endemic phase.
He said this proves that people have the ability to succeed this phase of transition to be endemic as they are still adhering to the standard operating procedures in curbing the spread of Covid-19.
“We see in terms of their attitudes, Malaysians are very good in the phase of transition to endemic, including when in open spaces. They are still wearing face masks although it is no longer mandatory.
“This means that Malaysians already know how to ‘live’ with the virus. They are also aware that if there are symptoms, they should isolate themselves and get tested.
“Congratulations, Malaysians,” he said after launching World Asthma Day 2022 in Kuala Lumpur today.
Khairy was asked to comment on the number of Covid-19 cases which is seen to be under control lately although it was projected to increase after the festive season.
Malaysia reported a total of 2,017 cases in the last 24 hours.
