MALAYSIA’S new low-cost carrier MYAirline Sdn Bhd was spotted at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport recently and photos of the aircraft have been making its rounds on social media.
The photo of the plane was first posted by Instagram user @theplanespapanazzi which showed the plane’s name and logo.
The plane which has a red body with grey streaks was a former Thai AirAsia aircraft.
MYAirline was one of the two new airlines approved by Malaysian Aviation Commission. The other airline that received the greenlight was Johor-based SKS airways Sdn Bhd.
The regulator announced in December last year that MYAirline has received conditional approval for an air service license effective Jan 1, 2022, until Dec 31, 2022.
The license would enable the airline to conduct scheduled passenger and cargo services, similar to other carriers such as Capital A Bhd’s AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Firefly.
In a research note in January, CGS-CIMB Research said the low-cost carrier is looking to operate two leased A320s, with more to come.
To date, MYAirline has yet to announce its launching date as well as its routes. As an ultra-low-cost carrier, MYAirline will rival popular local carriers namely AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines in a challenging market for the aviation industry post-pandemic.
It is assumed that MYAirline will service several major airports in the country and a few popular locations in South-East Asia.
According to MYAirline’s website, the group is actively recruiting with more than 20 vacant positions being advertised on the site.
Among the roles available are commercial analytic executive, web designer, brand executive, graphic designer and social media executive.
