FRENCH sports equipment chain, Decathlon Malaysia is opening two new outlets located at the Shoppes at Four Seasons Place on May 14 and in Puchong on May 28, 2022.

Decathlon Malaysia CEO Arnaud Sauret (picture) said this is in line with the company’s plan to open more stores in Malaysia within the next few years.

He also said the stores will continue to offer affordable prices to allow easy access to sporting goods for the public as part of their expansion.

“We will open two more stores outside of Kuala Lumpur in January 2023 such as Penang, which could be a good location since we have several of our factories there. So, we figured, why not combine the new stores with these factories,” he said recently.

Sauret added that Decathlon Malaysia has made a strong and incredible rebound in 2021 when the country was hit by the huge spike of Covid-19’s Delta variant in June and July, which is considered as the toughest year compared to 2020.

“It was a tricky and stressful two years during the pandemic as we had to take care of more than 500 workers.

“2021 was even more challenging for us compared to 2020 but we managed to come back strongly despite the huge spike of Covid-19 cases in June and July 2021 as customers started to come back to the stores,” he said.
