SURIA KLCC Sdn Bhd has unveiled Malaysia’s biggest lampu pelita (traditional Malay oil lamp) replica in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan and the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

According to its chairman Md Shah, the decoration has been set up at Suria KLCC’s Esplanade area.

“Malaysia’s Biggest Lampu Pelita Replica, as recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records 2022 — measuring 17m in height and 1m in width, is our contribution to enliven the atmosphere in the city for Ramadhan and Syawal.

“As Malaysia’s premier mall, we believe in doing our part to bring much needed cheer to everyone following two years of living through the various forms of the Movement Control Order,” he said in his welcoming speech.

Moreover, Suria KLCC has also launched its mega Raya campaign at the Centre Court with the theme of “Raya at Atuk’s Orchard” so shoppers would experience celebrating in an orchard setting.

A traditional kampung house which is inspired by the “Rumah Melayu Melaka” which showcases its vibrant and multicoloured motifs that is surrounded by fruit trees and lampu pelita.

Families can also enjoy a photo opportunity at the “pangkin” or wooden hut that provides a nostalgic backdrop with a Proton Saga which reminds them of a ride in Atuk’s (grandpa) car.

The attraction also includes traditional childhood activities such as “teng teng” (hopscotch) and “congkak” which will be displayed at the Centre Court during the campaign period.

Shoppers can also enjoy more photo opportunities at Level 1, Ramlee Mall, with a mini-installation of Atuk’s Orchard.

The launch of Suria KLCC’s Raya campaign was attended by Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board DG Datuk Zainuddin Abdul Wahab as well as the group’s COO Francs Tan and GM Ameer Thajudeen.

It runs until May 8 and shoppers can enjoy vouchers worth RM100 and Raya packets when they spend RM1,500 or more in two receipts at any specialty stores from now until May 1.

“For those who have been fortunate to grow and celebrate Aidilfitri in the kampung (village), you will remember that there’s a few memorable things that we used to do back in the good old days that make the celebration special.

“With that in mind, Suria KLCC has deliberately brought back the nostalgic memories of celebrating Raya in the kampung house here in Centre Court,” Md Shah added. Apart from its mall in Kuala Lumpur, the group’s Raya theme has also expanded to its other malls in Alamanda Shopping Centre, Putrajaya, and Mesra Mall in Kemaman.

Its Raya campaign will be around in its Putrajaya mall until May 2 where shoppers will be rewarded with an exclusive ceramic canister and Alamanda’s Raya packets when they spend RM700 and above in not more than two receipts from any specialty stores. On the other hand, shoppers will also receive an additional gift (limited to one redemption per shopper) if they spend RM1,500 or more which are either a RM40 Manhattan Fish Market voucher, a Noor Arfa scarf, or a RM50 Alamanda shopping voucher. Alamanda will also be collaborating with its tenants to host fashion and beauty activities such as the shawl tutorial by Bokitta as well as flower arrangement workshop by Cempaka Sari.

The mall will also hold traditional performances and activities such as an exclusive ketupat weaving workshop as well as paper cup pelita workshop for VIKids members.

For Mesra Mall, the highlight of the campaign will be a henna painting workshop until April 30 which will be held between 10am to 10pm.

Additionally, shoppers who spend at least RM350 in no more than two receipts from any specialty stores will receive an exclusive ceramic jar and a pack of Mesra’s Raya packet.

Mesra Mall will also give away free bubur lambuk and 500 packets of kurma to shoppers in conjunction with the fasting month.

Apart from its Aidilfitri celebrations, the group also will continue its corporate social responsibility initiatives which is supporting its mental awareness programme and ongoing ribbon pin sales last year.

“Shoppers are encouraged to support the cost by purchasing the pin at RM10 per piece and it is available at our concierge.

“All proceeds will be channelled to RELATE Malaysia,” said Md Shah.
