OPPOSITION leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and ex-Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak are expected to face off in a debate on May 12.
In a joint statement, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) communications director Fahmi Fadzil Fahmi and Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) information chief Isham Jalil said that the debate would have three segments.
“The first (debate) is regarding the problems faced by oil and gas (O&G) company, Sapura Energy Bhd, whether it needs a bailout.
“Second, on the ‘future of Malaysia’ including the economic, political, governance aspects as well as the country’s direction,” they said.
Meanwhile, the last part of the debate will be a question-and-answer session.
“We believe many are looking forward to this debate. We believe this will provide the opportunity for Malaysians to evaluate the various ideas, arguments and views,” they added.
The debate is set to be held at Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya at 9pm.
It will also be aired live through selected media channels, to be announced soon, together with physical attendance.
