THE Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) took part in the largest tourism fair, Borsa Internazionale del Turismo (BIT) in Milan, Italy, as an effort in re-attracting international visitors to Malaysia after the long-awaited border reopening.

The event was held from April 10-12, 2022.

Malaysia is set to attract two million international tourists this year and the country is targeting more than RM6.8 billion in tourism receipts.

The delegation for the BIT Milan 2022 was led by Tourism Malaysia in Paris director Mohamad Libra Lee Haniff, with the aim of promoting Malaysia as a safe and preferred holiday destination, as well as providing travel trade partners and potential holidaymakers to obtain the latest information on travelling to Malaysia.

Mohamad Libra is looking forward to any possible partner ship opportunities and business networking from the fair as he believes Italy is one of the important sources of the long-haul market for Malaysia.

“BIT Milan 2022 is one of the great platforms to increase the ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ brand visibility in promoting Malaysia as a top-of-mind destination.

“Home to one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems, Malaysia offers myriads of personalised experiences from exciting nature and adventure travel to sustainable and ecotourism, plus the abundant diversity of culture and arts,” he said in a statement recently.

Tourism Malaysia, this year, highlighted the concept of the Malaysia Pavilion that reflects the wonders of Malaysia’s nature and travel destinations.
