Volvo Car Malaysia has unveiled the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, which retails for RM262,459.75 in Malaysia. The new model will be the first luxury car brand to locally assemble pure electric vehicles through its own local assembly plant, and it will be exported to other countries in the ASEAN region.
This all-electric vehicle has a range of up to 418 kilometres on a single charge and a hassle-free price that includes a charging cable with the vehicle, a service package (years/kilometers), a 5-year vehicle warranty; an 8-year battery energy warranty; and five years of roadside assistance.According to Volvo, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is based on the XC40 compact premium SUV and is available in five colour options: Black Stone, Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue, Glacier Silver, and Sage Green.
Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, said, “We are delighted to launch our first pure EV in Malaysia. The launch lays the foundation for us to become the leading electric luxury car brand in the country.”
“To support this, we are committed to launching a new electric vehicle every year for the next 5 years. In addition, we have the capabilities to assemble our own pure EVs for the local and other ASEAN markets,” he added.
In addition, the company plans to export fully electric vehicles to markets in the Asean region in the near future. As a result of its ability to assemble pure electric vehicles at its own local assembly plant, Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that it will launch an electric vehicle in Malaysia every year for the next five years, starting in 2019.
Starting today, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be on display at all authorised Volvo dealerships throughout Malaysia.
In Malaysia, customers who place their orders online can expect deliveries to begin around the middle of April 2020. Interested buyers can schedule a test drive through the Volvo Cars website or by contacting any of the company’s authorised dealerships.
