MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) records a 27% increase through its Licence To Win 2019 (LTW 2019) campaign, with sales receipts surpassing RM178 million, where 51% were from Malaysians and 49% from foreign visitors.

MAHB senior GM of commercial services Hani Ezra Husin said RM99.7 million of the total sales were from foreign visitors with Chinese visitors contributing the highest sales of RM52.5 million and Indonesians with RM11.8 million respectively.

She said the campaign entries were collected through minimum purchases of RM250 at all dining and retail outlets at all international airports.

“We held the campaign to provide our passengers with a rewarding airport shopping experience. At the same time, we wanted to help drive sales for our airport retailers.

“Since its inception, the campaign has grown steadily in popularity. This was in part due to the exciting prizes being offered as well as the introduction of new retail offerings at the airport and due to its popularity, we expanded the campaign to include all our international airports,” she said at the grand finale of LTW 2019 yesterday.

The shopping campaign period was from August 2019 to January 2020 but the grand finale of LTW 2019 was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As for the grand prize of LTW 2019, a brand new McLaren 570S was won by 25-year old Jason Goh.

Hani Ezra said MAHB will continue to find innovative ways for retail partners at its airports with new platforms to reach out to a wider market such as the airport’s e-commerce platform, shopMYairports.

“Soon, we will also introduce on-ground service such as ‘Click and Collect’ which will allow travellers to shop online and collect their purchases upon arrival at the respective airport,” she added.

Separately, to standardise the health and safety protocols for passengers travelling under the Vaccinated Travel Lane By Air with other participating countries such as Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand, Malaysia Airports obtained the approval and support from the Health Ministry to implement the “Test and Release” arrival process starting from March 16, 2022.

Its MD Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood said with this, travellers no longer have to wait for their Covid-19 RT-PCR screening test results at the airport.

“Instead, they can immediately take private transportation, taxi or private hire car from the airport to their declared accommodation in their MySejahtera Home Surveillance Order (HSO) upon clearing immigration.

“This will provide greater flexibility and comfort to VTL travellers while they wait for their test results which will be provided within 24 hours. Once the test result is confirmed to be negative, their HSO status in MySejahtera will be lifted by the authorities, the traveller can proceed with their activities freely in Malaysia,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that Malaysia Airports is working closely with the authorities to improve services and facilities at the airport to deliver the best customer experience. Apart from enabling passengers to clear airport processes faster, this latest enhancement will also minimise congestion at the airport in view of the multiple VTL by Air programmes that are being implemented.

VTL by Air for Cambodia and Thailand has commenced from March 15, while for Singapore is expanded to include a new Malaysian destination namely Penang, from March 16.
