CAPITAL A Bhd’s airasia Super App has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd to collaborate on making equity trading and investing more accessible and affordable for everyone, especially the non-investors.
The joint venture (JV) is in line with the Securities Commission Malaysia Capital Market Masterplan 3 with the aim to empower investors in building a better future by offering quality investment advice and technologically enhanced capabilities to meet rapidly evolving customer needs.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to bring capital market investment to the public by leveraging the best of CGS-CIMB Securities and Capital A’s consumer insights and disruptive strategies with the vision “now everyone can invest”.
“With the partnership we can now open up the possibility for everyone to buy shares and have a little bit of extra wealth. And that is just very exciting — I’m looking forward to buying and selling shares while on flight,” said CEO of Capital A Tan Sri Dr Tony Fernandes.
Fernandes also believes that the JV is going to be much larger than any revenue projection and believes that the relationship is trying to catch up to crypto-currencies to allow everyone to have an opportunity at all growth coins and not just certain assets.
“We are equally excited with partnering with airasia Super App, capitalising on CGS-CIMB Securities’ investment-as-a-service model. With over 40 years of experience in Asia, we have evolved from being a pure-play traditional broker to being a trusted financial solutions provider for not only institutional clients but also for the man in the street. With our focus on ESG, we will level the playing field by providing financial literacy courses so that as “everyone can invest”, said Ruzi Rani Ajith, CGS-CIMB Securities’ CEO.
The airasia Super App is a one-stop travel, e-commerce and fintech platform offering consumers over 15 lines of products and services via the super app as well as airasia.com website.
