ERICSSON has successfully demonstrated world’s first 5G Dynamic Radio Resource Partitioning (DRP) that can serve SOX Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) on Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) network, allowing them to offer a customised 5G user experience to their customers with efficient spectrum allocation.
In a statement yesterday, Ericsson said the 5G network by DNB will be the first commercial network in the world to apply DRP, a 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) Slicing solution from Ericsson that will enable six MNO to deliver customised 5G services with guaranteed performance.
It stated that each MNO sharing DNB’s network has access to the full spectrum asset to achieve the best possible speed, while simultaneously ensuring the pooled spectrum is efficiently used and maximised among all other MNOs.
The solution optimally provisions esach MNO to ensure a good end-user experience which allows each MNO to offer services that meet the service level agreements (SLAs) and provides guaranteed resources as configured.
“DRP is one of the features of Ericsson 5G RAN slicing, a software solution that dynamically allocates spectrum resources at milli-second scheduling and supports multi-dimensional service differentiation handling across slices.
“It optimises radio resources, strengthening end-to-end slicing capabilities for dynamic resource management and orchestration and ensures fast and efficient delivery of services as well as high-quality user experience required by diverse use cases,” it stated.
Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, David Hägerbro said the technology solution enables all six MNOs to deliver customised 5G services with guaranteed performance and this innovation also allows each MNO to differentiate its offering to consumers on the shared 5G network.
He said their commitment to providing a world-class 5G network to Malaysia is demonstrated by Ericsson’s first-in-the-world use of their DRP technology on DNB’s 5G network.
“Network slicing is a key feature of 5G deployments. Ericsson has ongoing 5G network slicing engagements for RAN, transport, core network and orchestration across the globe,” he said in the same statement.
