Program Jualan Keluarga Malaysia posts RM22.8m sales

THE Program Jualan Keluarga Malaysia (PJKM) has recorded a sales value amounting to more than RM22.85 million, attracting a total of 1,181,376 visitors in 775 locations nationwide, says the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

“PJKM is now expanded to cover rural parliamentary constituencies that offer essential goods at prices up to 20% cheaper than local market prices,” KPDNHEP said in a statement yesterday.

PJKM offers options to users to get a variety of daily necessities at more affordable prices including chicken, fish, eggs, vegetables, cooking oil, sugar, flour and selected household Items.

KDPNHEP added that the participation from suppliers, wholesalers and retailers are also very encouraging in assisting government efforts to address the rising cost of living.

PJKM is conducted every week simultaneously throughout the country in the area elected parliaments in locations close to the targeted community under bottom 40% and middle 40% fractions.

At the state level, PJKM is held for two days at weekends as early as 8am to 4pm depending on the stock of goods available.

In addition to that, the success of PJKM also contributed by the close collaboration between KPDNHEP and government agencies from Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry such as FAMA and LKIM, as well as strategic partners in the retail sector.

Currently, a total of 113 strategic partners have participated in the implementation PJKM programmes nationwide.

KPDNHEP also hopes that consumers do not make panic purchases that will disrupt the stability of supply and prices of goods.

“The programme should be fully utilised by all help reduce the daily expenses,” it said in the statement.

The ministry said, over 2,200 KPDNHEP enforcement officers will continue with monitoring and inspections to ensure supply is always stable and there is no element of profiteering in the market.
