Covid-19: Malaysia logs record high of 27,831 cases

Malaysia logs the highest number of Covid-19 cases today with 27,831 new cases.

This brings the total number of Covid infections in the country to 3,111,514.

A week ago, the country only reported 17,134 new cases.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, Sabah, Kelantan and Kedah reported new record highs in each states. Sabah detected 5,082 new cases, Kelantan with 1,914 and Kedah with 2,961.

Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that only 97 new cases are in the Category 3 and above.

“Covid-19 patients requiring ventilatory increased to 109 patients and the percentage of ventilator use was 4.05% and 37% if non-Covid cases were included,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

“We need to brace this omicron storm together. Many countries in our region are seeing an upward trend. Please comply to all public health & social measures (SOP) to brace the omicron storm. Please get vaccinated and get your booster dose to protect yourself and your loved ones,” he added. –TMR
