MENTRI Besar Selangor Inc (MBI Selangor) has entered into an investment agreement for the Development of Selangor Cashless Agenda and E-Services, a joint venture (JV) between Selangor E-Wallet Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of MBI Selangor and Wavpay Fintech Holdings Sdn Bhd.

Trade and Industry Exco Datuk Teng Chang Khim (picture) said the agreement was to introduce an application that connects all financial initiatives in line with creating a cashless community in Selangor.

He said the programme would form a JV between the state government and an existing e-wallet company complete with a money lending licence issued by Bank Negara Malaysia and the Housing and Local Government Ministry via e-wallet worth of RM10,000.

“E-Wallet Super App Selangor will bring together all business services of the Selangor government, local authorities, statutory bodies and state subsidiaries that have been regulated by Citizen E-Payment operated by Smart Selangor Delivery Unit.

“This includes social welfare contributed to the people and creating an online marketplace to digitise small and medium enterprise (SME) and micro-SME businesses in Selangor,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Teng added that it also allows assistance to recipients of Penyayang Iltizam Selangor programmes such as Bingkas, Iltizam Selangor Sihat, Skim Mesra Usia Emas from various agencies and government-linked companies such as Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor and Selgate Corp to be channelled through a single application.

“Activities such as tax payments to local authorities and cashless parking payments can also be implemented through this platform.

“This effort will simplify matters and save time for those who need the state government’s assistance the most and increase the efficiency of services between the government, the people and small and medium industries that are complete in one digital wallet,” he said.
